Hello guys so I have a problem with my steering wheel. In a rainy day I drove my Lexus gs450h 2009. After a day I trying to turn my wheel and he’s hard as rock. And a check pops up (in the photo). So in my opinion I think it’s an ecu steering.
if it’s the ecu steering can someone help me where can I locate it? To find the serial number. Thanks
Same thing happened to me after I got back from a holiday trip last week. I'm getting codes C1511 and C1512, figured it was a low battery issue after sitting for so long but charging it didn't help. I checked the rack harness plugs, cleared codes and tried to relearn the torque sensor but it kept failing and did nothing. In the live data, it does show the steering wheel turn with the torque numbers changing so, I don't know what to think. I'm at a loss so, just gonna throw a new module at it, then a rack if that doesn't help.
Made it to 193k before ever really needing to do anything above basic maintenance so, I'm still extremely happy with how well it's held up over the years.

so I went to Lexus dealer and they told me that the problem is the ecu steering. And I got the serial number (8965030760). But my question is if the ecu needed to be recoded
I believe that if you get it electronically repaired it doesn't need to be reprogrammed, but if you swap it with another part (junkyard or new) then you would need to get it reprogrammed. Dealership has to do that.
Gallardo49 had the same issue as you and found water inside of the unit. That matches up with your story as well.
When people have harsh downshifting problems they send their ECM to SIA Electronics. Very good reviews. I would contact them regarding the power steering ecu to see if they can fix it. Might also be cheaper than buying a new one and having it reprogrammed.

I try to ask them if they can repair it they say no….
Just to continue this same thread and not start a new one: Is anyone good at hunting down a part number? I found that my harness that goes from the EPS ecu to the rack itself doesn't have continuity in a few wires and just need a new harness. I can't seem to find just the harness if anyone could assist? 2008 GS350 RWD.
Which connector matches the one that broke? It varies depending on the engine you have.
After finding that I would go to parts.lexus.com and put in your VIN (I can't do it because idk what your VIN starts with). Look through the WIRING & CLAMP diagrams. This shows all the harnesses in the engine bay. Knowing the connector size is a good start.
