GS400 Steering Rack Left Bleeder... fix or replace?
The steering rack on our GS400 has a bleeder, on the left (driver's) inner tie-rod end... you can see a laminar stream of fluid as you back in to the driveway, and when squeezing the boot, it gushes steering fluid.
Is there a seal in there that's easily replacable (ok, not easily, yet you get the point...!), or are we replacing the entire rack, as it's just easier...?
Based on this diagram, there are no seals on the driver's side. Everything related to the power steering fluid is on the right (passenger side).
There is an OEM Toyota Gasket Kit 04445-30252 which has all the necessary O-rings, seals and gaskets for rack and pinion.
But I am sure that it will be a difficult process with the removal and rebuild of the steering rack.
Get a new steering rack Lexus 44200-30290, ~1k$ and forget about it for another 20 years

Not dropping $1k, can get a rack with 100k inexpensively, online. Will order one, swap, and if it becomes an issue, buy another for 1/10th the price, or go through the discovery exercise of rebulding one of them.
Have you checked the pressure line and return line for leaks? Plus the pumps are notorious for leaking and then could easily find a way down to the rack. If you haven’t dealt with the power steering pump in the last few years, it’s leaking, get factory rebuilt kit and get it sealed up, and u can get a good look at the Lines while the pump is out. The racks are u usually good unless ran dry and are noisy. Not many have leaks
