What’s up y’all! Randomly my 99 GS400 starting making this loud clicking noise while o was on the highway which seemed to be coming from under the steering wheel. Please see attached video. Never heard something like this before so I’m clueless. Had my 5 year old son in the car it was so loud even he got worried. Any ideas?
Did the sound go away? If it’s still there turn off the AC and see if it was maybe an actuator. Or see if you can here it coming from a relay in that area.

yea it just went away on its own. I didn’t have the ac on and it doesn’t sound like the servo motor clicking because I’ve had that problem and usually hear that behind the dash and it’s not loud this was more under the steering wheel and very loud. What’s weird is I was able to get it to stop once I used my turn signal and start again after I pressed the brake or gas, then it just went away. Not sure if that’s coincidence.
You might have a plug in relay flipping out. Look near the drivers side fuse box and see if they are all pushed all the way in. Use the wipers and turn signals all that type of stuff and see if you here the noise coming from there
Well it hasn’t happened again. I checked the relays and pushed them in they didn’t feel loose. One of them I felt move SLIGHTLY when I pushed it in so MAYBE it was a little loose. It was the slightest amount but who knows. Even before I did that the noise hasn’t come back so maybe it was just a fluke.
