Limp mode! Final fix before replace gs300 1998
Hello everyone,
i have a gs300 1998 with 135,000 km
someday i started having limp mode(no acceleration unless pressing all the way on the pedal).
after searching on my own and posting here i replaced the APPS (accelerator pedal position sensor) and the car drove a lot better! and the problem seemed to be gone.
after 3 months the problem occurred again but this time every startup would seem to fix it for some time.
i tried cleaning the electrical connections with some wd40 and it seemed to help but after some time it came back, sometimes the engine just hesitates for a little and then drives normally.
The next things ill check are:
1. 5V from the ecm (if anyone has pics how on this engine (2jz-ge) id be really happy)
2. ill clean the connectors with some carburetor cleaner
3. if above doesnt work replace the tps (throttle position sensor)
4. clean the throttle body itself
5. replace the throttle motor (so expansive :'(, but its for research
)
if all of those wont work ill prob replace the throttle body itself (spending dat money)
if anyone has any information or tips
id love to know
ill update this post so anyone who has this problem can solve with the most basic expanse
thank you all
BTW
i cant connect to the ecm with a scanning tool for some reason..
bough a scan tool and it didnt manage
tried some Bluetooth ones with the torque pro app and it didnt work

Hard to say.. they label it as a Genuine Toyota part, but knowing eBay, it's an over priced knock off. I have learned to never buy important sensors and things on eBay, or even Amazon anymore. Use to be able to trust Amazon, can't anymore. The scammers have started selling there too. The only way to not get screwed these days is to pay a few bucks more to get parts from an authorized dealer like RockAuto. I have received fake NGK plugs from eBay, fake NTK and Bosch o2 sensors, Walbro fuel pumps, etc all labeled as genuine parts.

the gs300 1998 model wasnt imported here so there are no pars in israel for this car
(i imported it myself)
can you suggest what can i do?
You can still buy parts from your Toyota dealer, although it'll probably cost an arm and a leg. Don't know what the shipping situation is in your country - duties and so on.
Have you checked the LS400 forum for the ECU repair stuff? Your car is from that time period, so... it's a wild guess, but there might be something relevant.
