Default Splash Guard Undercarriage Cover Hardware

Hi guys,

i was under the 2001 GS430 this morning changing the oil. After 19years of oil changes, I notice that my plastic splash guard cover (the one you have to take off to access the oil filter) is missing a few screws.

Additionally a couple of the screws that were there don’t tighten anymore. They just free spin with no resistance. This is leading to the cover not being as tight against the undercarriage as id like.

Is there a complete hardware kit out there for this cover? I guess I need the screws and the small back plates for some of those screws.

i could go to the hardware store and try to rig something up but rather just buy a kit with all hardware if it exists.

Seems like a screwy design...

Thanks

You can get all that hardware at auto parts stores or a Lexus/Toyota dealership

Why are you unscrewing anything to access the oil filter? You can grab it from the top of the engine.

You can not reach the GS430 oil filter from the top as it is located at the bottom of the engine rather than the side like the 2JZ. Futhermore, oil would drip down onto the splash shield making a mess.

lol. I cannot believe I passed up 430s because I thought they were gas guzzlers. The 300 is slow, but it’s great as a reliable daily commuter.

Haha it's not that big of a hassle taking down the splash shield. Then again, I have access to lifts at work.

I've been averaging about 18 mpg in my 430. I tend to drive pretty conservative and majority highway about 60/65 mph. Mostly try to keep it under 2000 RPMS.

Thats pretty low for mostly highway unless you're going 90+ MPH or theres a lot of traffic. I get 25 MPG in my GS300 and in a 05 LS430 LS430 I got 25 MPG as well going 80+ in all highway driving

Yeah if I take a road trip on the highway, I can get 20+ but my daily commute has a bit more traffic.

If I recall, the difference in gas mileage between 430 and 300 is minimal, something like 2mpg.

And for the guys claiming 25+mpg in their 4.3, something tells me there’s some magic math going on there somewhere 😛

That’s the point. I didn’t realize that until after I purchased my 300 lol. I had an Infiniti Q45 with horrible gas mileage, so I wanted to get away from the V8.
