Lost Key :(
Wondering if the Ecu can be reprogrammed.
I here things both ways but not sure.
Looking on eBay for a Ecu and key.
Any suggestions?
It was the only key I had.
Could be worse.
Thanks

To clarify... believe the '98-'00 has to be re-flashed back to factory, then you add keys like it just came off the end of the line. There's no way to wipe or replace codes in the ECM, it has to go back to factory.
Believe '01+ went away from this limitation.

Found a service on eBay where I sent my Ecu and they’ll give me back two keys with the programmed rfid chip inside. It’s in the mail back to me so I’ll let everyone know how it goes when I get it Tuesday.
Fingers crossed.

This happened to me too. I bought a new master key from my local Lexus dealer for $141 and I brought in my car title and ID so they can cut it for free to the vin.
Once that new key was cut I took out the ecu and mailed it in to a ECU reprogram service on ebay with the new master key that the Lexus dealer cut so they have a reference since it also included two cut valet keys. I been fine for about 2 years since this happened but I spent a bit under $500 for everything at $141 a piece for 2 new cut master keys and about $185 for the ecu reprogram service (it is cheaper now).
Also you will need to program the master key yourself for the unlock/lock trunk buttons to work. Those instructions are on here and very easy to do.
EDIT: Just saw you got everything working again, glad everything worked out for you.

Maybe a stupid question, but can't people just break into my car, replace the ECU and start and move the car then? Because if I'm correct, the alarm turns off after it has been on for a few seconds...
