Sounds like a cold-start injector issue... either it's not being told to fire (such as a bad coolant sensor, the ECM thinks the engine is already warm), or a bad injector (ECM is telling the injector to open, yet it isn't).
Our GS4 has been rock-solid on 1 needle over 1/2, since we bought it, before/after we replaced the coolant temp sensor (post starter replacement).
Haven't dealt with it on this car yet, but usually "cold" is a bad fuel pump check valve. Try tuning your key on for 5 seconds and off a few times to prime the fuel system before your next cold start. If it starts right up, the pump is no longer able to hold pressure in the lines and it bleeds back to the tank overnight or when sitting all day.
