New owner of a 2001 Lexus GS300, I was wondering what modifications would be the most necessary for a bone stock model with a stock 2jz-ge VVT-i. This car is gonna be my daily, so I'm not planning on doing anything too significant. However, in the future I would like to do a full Aristo swap.
None are necessary. But yes, tires, brakes, and suspension would all be enjoyable upgrades that would make you car more ready for power upgrades in the future. You could do a cat back exhaust and it would be another good supporting mod to the gte swap. May just have to change a flange at that time.

I would say make sure you do a full tune up all the way to the o rings on the injectors, hoses, fluids, coil packs, wires, gaskets, belts, suspension, control arms, balljoints, brakes rotors etc.. there would be no reasonable explanation to start modifications if the vehicle cant handle it
After I did my complete tune on the entire vehicle my first real mods were the coilovers and rims before that was led lights throughout the vehicle inside and out upgraded interior DVD headrests, headlights
I am now waiting for my Hyena mufflers to be completed.,I have a guy that fabricates them and sends them to your place of residents you just have to take them to a local muffler shop to weld them on Hyena mufflers
OP, focus on all your maintenance as suggested above if you have done so already, since this is going to be your daily driver.
After that, as mentioned above you can get some nice wheels, suspension and brake upgrade. Have fun and don't to forget to post pics of your progress.
After preventative maintenance, our vote is always tires and brake pads. Dollar for difference, fresh summer (not all-season) ultra-performance tires, and a set of EBC (you pick your balance of wear, dust, squeal, etc), will transform just about any non-hyper car. Exhaust, intake, ignition, etc, will always make a difference (sometimes minimal), yet not the kind of difference tires/pad will make.
