Default GS300 won't stay running after fuel pump change

Hello, I'm new to the forum so thank you for helping me out.
I'll try to include as much detail as I can. After work car wouldn't start, tow home. Spray starting fluid into intake to make it start for a second. Changed the fuel pump and it started, drove to work for 2 days. It then began to run sluggish, no acceleration. I limped it home. I changed the filter, thinking I had a clog, but car will only start for 2-3 seconds. So I thought regulator, changed it but still will only run for 2-3 seconds then die. Please help.

Sounds like a defective pump. Check your fuel pressure. Also ensure you don't have a leak from damaged lines or connections from your install.

update: pulled the pump out again. Checked the pump on the bench with a battery, works fine. verified the filter is an exact match to the old one, good. Carefully reassembled the the whole thing. Reinstall in tank. Car started, stays running, went for a test drive, and it runs like it never had a problem. I want to say thanks to all for posts to anyone who had a similar problem.

I had a problem like this on a Toyota Celica (2005) When I inserted the pump into the housing I pushed the O-ring at an angle some how and the fuel was shooting right back into the tank. I am glad you figured it out!
