Hey guys I just picked up a 01 GS300, I had a ls400 before and I decided to get the GS300 they both look crazy ahead of it’s time. And they both are comfortable as hell. But it’s bone stock, it also came with original manual book and window sticker. Well my plans are to lowering it, get some nice wheels, and tinting it. My question for you guys is what’s a good exhaust setup, I looked on YouTube but it’s moslty just like 2 videos with straight pipe or they are GS400 or gs430 which both sound amazing. I regret not getting one, but I’m planning on buying another ls400 or ls430. But just need exhaust setups to get a variety of what it could sound like.

Just posted about the GS300 I bought too, first GS for me. Well maintained '99...I am in a different boat as it will stay mostly stock as a daily driver/commuter

Congrats to both of you.
Bryan, suggest you start off reading the FAQ sticky which has some useful links for exhaust clips https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...iy-thread.html

thank you for the suggestion I’m still super new to this forum and didn’t even know about the sticky’s and how they work.

Welcome. I just recently put in the Tanabe Medalion cat-back exhaust. It sounds great especially with a IS300 performance header and Megan Racing mid pipe.

I went with these two, it sounds great, no complaints. Fit well. Everything's on the cheap for me with this car. Just giving you suggestions if you're on the cheap like me, if you want name brand and quality, Shwalker's setup is a great one too.

is300 headers work with the GS300? I know it’s the same engine but typically they’ll have different components but that good to know, does the exhaust sound like deepish/raspy or is it obnoxious loud?

Yes the IS300 header fits the 01-05 GS300 and its a great alternative for a fraction of the price of a normal GS300 header listing. It can fit the 98-00 but apparently the mid pipe has a slightly different length so that would have to be changed on those years. Check out this thread for pictures and more information:

The exhaust has a very deep tone and not raspy or annoying at all at low speeds or on the highway. Once it is fully warmed up, it is still OEM quiet at idle actually. I will be uploading some sound clips to my YT channel once it gets a bit warmer outside but with just the header and a Megan Racing mid pipe I made a small sound clip video if you are interested in how just those two sound:

just saying right off this sounds really good and exactly what I’m looking for, but for now I’m gonna wait to do it in the summer or spring cause it’s too cold to work on the GS300. But the car sounds amazing congrats.

Thanks. It's definitely not fun for one person installing a catback exhaust in 14 degree weather (ask me how I know lol). I really wanted to get the exhaust that TrueGS300 had but I do not know of any sound clips or anyone local here who has installed it, plus when ebay gives you a 20% off coupon you gotta take full advantage of it lol.
