Default Door Lock Acutators

It would seem that both of my rear door lock actuators are now playing up.

Can anyone tell me what needs to be stripped down to access them for replacement? Also low-cost parts are advertised on e-Bay from China as being compatible - any opinions?

The rears are basically the same as the fronts.

There's a seller on facebook for the 2GS actuators. I think it was $50-60 for a set of 4 shipped. Mabuchi motors is always another great option but you'll need to strip off the part on the motor with a special tool.

I bought 4 motors and a gear puller for about $35. $50 a door's not a bad price but I'd rather fix it myself.

When I did mine I bought some extra old units and cracked them open and swapped out the motors. I couldn’t afford the down time.

Don't waste your time trying to crack open the actuator shell and replacing the motor. Just swap out the whole actuator this will save you a bunch of time, ask me how I know?

There are a few videos on youtube that don't crack open the actuator. Also, the eBay ones do work just make sure that you get the correct ones for our year/make/model.

I went the puller route, but the puller bent and I ended up having to trash it. I had to stop and find another solution while everything was taken apart (dont be like me, be better than me). Also, I had to replace the cable too, so you might want to be ready for that too. Like many others, I used a paperclip to get me through until I could order a new cable.

Guys,

Thank you all for your responses. Can anyone recommend a reasonably-priced source for these actuators (complete) from e-Bay.com or other US supplier?

I did all 4 last week. Motors were like 15 bucks on ebay and the gear puller was 17 bucks. Simple install just take your time.

Contact any licensed locksmith, they'll help you out to have the best supply for the actuators.
