Is there a way to program the power door locks to lock automatically when you go to drive?

yes you can but you would have to get a pro to build you a device for it.

 

Also if you get an aftermarket alarm system it will allow you to do that but note has to be installed by a pro, we have some wierd door lock trigger in our cars

 

I don't know if there was a major change in the cBest programming between 2000 and 2001 (I have an 01 GS300), but my dealer programmed the cBest on my car so that the doors automatically lock when I put the car in gear, and they unlock when I put it in park.

 

lock/unlock signals are posted on my website under alarm installation.
should be very straight forward to lock and unlock the door anytime you want with aftermarket alarm

 

will you consider an aftermarket alarm?

 

My '03 GS430 locks the doors when put in drive. I know for a fact that it's a CBEST setting as I've seen the list, at least for '03.
