Default Door Lock wont lock

Hello everyone,

Noticed something new today, I went to go lock my car and the front doors wouldn't lock however the rears did.

I hear the front trying to lock, but no go

Went inside the car and pressed the lock button and same story, i see the lock moving slightly.

Just want to confirm its the actuators before I tackle this project this weekend.

Figured there were enough people on here who may have experienced this already to give feedback on this.

Thanks!!

Yeah, it sounds like your front door lock actuators are done. My drivers side door lock does this exact thing. I can unlock it with the key fob but it won't auto-lock when I put the car in drive and it usually won't lock if I exit the car and try to do it with the key fob. I can usually hear the other locks doing their thing though, so I know they are working. Pretty common issue on the 2GS.

Yeah, I ordered a replacement set off ebay. The whole enclosure not just the little motor.

Lets see when I get some time I'll get it done.

if you bought used assemblies I would follow the DIY on here and replace the motors before you install them. You didn't need to buy the whole assembly but since you did change the motors so they last longer

This is what I ordered, just didn't want to have to take this apart and install the motor since the casing needed to be pried apart.

I believe the motor in these is junk, and that they go bad pretty soon. You should get a higher quality motor that wont burn out as soon if you dont want to have to open it all up again in a month or so.

Sorry, I would never use those cheap Chinese actuators. I just repair mine and put in new motors but I would put new Lexus ones in before I wasted my time with those Chinese ones.
