i am in the works to see about having a local guy do some chrome bezels for us. it would be sending the pieces to him, for the chrome work. if this goes through how many of us would do this? thanks bryan

 

BANAGS and I looked into that. At least my conclusion was that the plastic part needs the flexibility to be shoed in and it would require modification. The back side of the chrome one has been modified for a snap down fit.

I am still on a waiting list ... has been a year. Any one knows if the chrome bezel is sold in Japan?

Suggest you check for some earlier posts here and in the classified forum about problems with chroming the existing piece from some folks who tried it. Seem to recall there was some problem with stiffness or wrinkling after the chrome is put on top of the plastic.

 

Anyone consider just painting the existing bezel? Might not look bad.

 

Did that, looks like ****. Still amazes me... they can put a man on the moon, but can't make a chrome spray paint that looks chrome! Oh well, guess I'll go stock up on Oreos before that liberal piece of crap lawyer (I know, redundant) in Cali has them all banned...

 

why is there no more chrome bezel for the older gs 98+? what years are the hard to find ones? and where would you normaly find one when they were available?the newer bezel wont fit? can some one awnser all these questions ? thanks

 

- no one knows for sure why the item can't be purchased by itself anymore; Lexus just doesn't offer the choice
- not sure what year they started making the chrome bezels; I bet its on that part no. from my site

I strongly encourage you to use the most powerful tool on ClubLexus, the search engine. You'll find all the answers to your questions in more detail. It's the big box at the top of the page that says "Search", you can't miss it.

In short:

- there never were any chrome bezels for the older gs 98+.
- the chrome bezel came out on the 2001 GS430 as an enhancement to the interior
- some older GS owners retrofitted the new bezel on their older GS
- the new bezel's WILL fit (I have one on mine), but they are slightly different in connecting underneath
- Lexus stopped selling them (as an independent part) after having them available for a couple of months. Who knows why... Thus, they are ALL hard to find.

I am finding out next week from my Lexus dealer parts man. I made a call this am and he's getting back to me.

I was able to get a chrome bezel a few moths ago from him, after some complications with him/the order I finally got it and it's in my GS300.

I have spoken to my Lec Dealer yesterday... he's getting back to me next week hopefully with the bezels. We'll have to wait a few days and see! They got mine a couple of months ago with a few problems along the line, but I got it in the end. I'll post here next week with the outcome and reply to any direct messages too.

People commented on the difference when mine was fitted. Its dapper.

 

Toyota Japan makes them and are available........... I ordered one already for a CL member. I got the one that goes on a 2001, I was told it would fit the earlier models.

Give him about two weeks to post that it fit his car. If it does then you can get excited If it fits then you can get them from him cause he wants more.
