Default P1349 Bank 1b = OCV replacement question

CEL VSC OFF lights pulling code p1349 and several misfire codes.
About to order replacement LH driver oil control valve.
I'm sure everyone will recommend OEM part but anyone use aftermarket OCV with success?
I have a 1998 GS400
Part number for driver side for OCV is 15340-0F010
Thanks,
bill

Before you change the valve make sure the filter inside of the valve housing is clean. Also make sure you have clean oil filled to the proper level

I was under the impression the gs400 filter is built into the OCV and cannot be changed. I believe only the gs300 could be changed.

I actually just replaced the OCV on my '98 GS400 the other week. I wanted to go OEM, but the valve was a little more expensive than I thought it was, so I cross-referenced it with a Toyota Part and just purchased an aftermarket one.

It seems to be holding up so far; then again, it's only been a couple of weeks. I'm happy with it though.

I purchased it from this eBay seller http://www.ebay.com/itm/222027487184?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Isn't a new oil control valve only 150 from the dealership?

the V8's do not have a external screen, IF we have one it is contained internally in our OCV's

Wow... with patient shopping, I got my pair (one each from different Lexus dealerships who do mail order) for $136... for both. And they came unopened, tape stil lin place. Yet +1 on the buy-oem.
