Default 2003 GS430 Navigation failure

I'm new to the forum. Probably an old question but my GPS Navigation has stopped working in my 2003 GS430. I get the error message: "Unable to read data. Check if map DVD is correct". I ejected the disc and cleaned it but received the same error message. The hard buttons "Map", "Destination", and "Menu" don't function now. The climate control and audio still work. Does this sound like a damaged outdated DVD or is it most likely the DVD Player? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I would guess its the DVD player. See if you can buy an updated DVD and install it to be sure. It does not have to be the newest version, just newer then your current one.

Default Nav failure

Thanks for the reply. Do you have any favorite places to look for an updated disc?

eBay would have them. The navi units are prone to failure. You can get them rebuilt for around $800 if you want to go that route.

I agree with TI II, eBay is your best bet for both the disc and if needed the drive.

My DVD drive already failed once too. I got a used one on eBay for $400.00 if I remember correct. I looked for a while until I found a good deal. I got a newer Prius drive too.

Default GS Nav failure

Thanks for the offer! Got very busy lately. Haven't even ordered the disc yet. If the updated disc doesn't fix the problem then I'll contact you.
