So whoever said, Its not a problem just a little dim is wrong. My **** is WAY dim. The scarey thing is I think it has something to do with the alternator or something cuz If I sit with the car in park or with the brake pressed for a decent amount of time the dash gets bright again. 3 or 4 miles down the road it'll start getting dim again.
So it actually gets BRIGHTER when you hold the brake down?? That seems really weird. Seems to me that putting more load on the alternator would cause the other lights to become dim.....but i'm no EE.
My problem, if you want to call it that, doesn't seem related to the alternator. I don't see any rapid fluctuation of brightness.
I have that center dim problem all the time.. it drives me nutz.. oh well.. could be worse.. it could have been one of the side ones.. and then my sense of symetry would have been thrown completely off ...
Ive noticed it to Paul..but I kinda like it dim..when I had my es I use to turn it down at night because it would start to hurt my eyes after a long road trip..
Someone in clublexus attached LEDs to the light sensors and fool the computer into thinking is daytime always so the dashboard is always max brightness.
This has been bothering me too. I was parked and I shinned my flashlight into the sensor and it got a ton brighter and stayed that way for a while. I tried it while I was driving and it worked, but then went right back to dim. I'll call the dealer, but its prolly gonna be a $$$$ just for them to change it.
I have my 2000 GS4 in for the 60K service today and I am actually having them look at the dash because all three gauges are sooo damn dim at night on the highest setting. So I'll report back what they tell me.
