I came across this Site that sells products to Resurface headlights. It even claims to fix lights on cars that have a gritty feel to them and you can see pits in the plastic. I got mine changed under warranty but for those who can't you might want to check this Site out.

If you put Xpel headlight protection, it will get rid of roughly 90% of the pits. Somehow they just disappear. The headlights are also impervious to new pits. There is also a kind of magnification effect that makes the chrome within the lenses reflect more brilliantly in the sun and look better than new, IMHO. This effect is probably because the overall thickness of the lens is now greater than stock.

Both Rominl and I have done this. At the NorCal summer meet, it was readily apparent which two out of the 25 GS's had the cleanest looking headlights. I would say nearly all of the locals in our area have since bought Xpel.

The fog lights are the best improvement of all. After a couple of years of driving, the fogs get pretty well sandblasted even though they are made of glass. Adding Xpel to them has made a world of difference.

We did a group buy with our local retailer and got them for around $40.

Applying this "Bright Soln" cleaner wouldn't hurt, but what we did locally is use a comparable plastic polish available from Tap Plastics, before applying the Xpel. I think the East Coast guys can get a 3 stage plastic polish sold at The Container Store. Forgot the name of the stuff.

I have never heard of XPEL. Will it really make the pitted headlights on my 98 GS400 look new?

Thats pretty cool. Now what would be cooler is if they came in a slight tint.

Shadow / rjheard

Check out http://www.xpel.com/ for photos and more info.

The resolution of the photos I took don't do justice to the improvement I saw. I'd say about 90% of my pits went away with the xpel and yes the kit includes all three sets of front lights.

PM Rominl for good deals on Xpel product.
