Default Sand pits in headlights

My headlights took a beating this summer, all the sand and all the washing and drying left tiny hair like scratchs and I have a whole bunch of sand pits and I have that "haze" in the headlights, I did a search as good as I possibly could but after reading all the threads i've got a whole bunch of mixed comments, I still dont know what would be the best way to get all the problems I listed above out of my headlights, is Wetsanding safe for the GS headlights? and if I wet sand, how do I do it... and does the polish fill the headlights in to look like they're brand new? because I was thinking about polishing my headlights as good as possible and get that Haze out too, then to put the Expel over the lights to stop this from happening again, IM hoping to get answers as soon as possible because I plan/planned on doing this tomorrow, thanks in advanced

Before going spending a lot of money, I suggest you try the Mothers plastic polish. Only about $5 at the local Pep Boys. I tried it a couple of months ago and it worked pretty well...the headlight are not perfect but it did remove or cover up most of the little pits and scratchs.

I used a 1500-2000 grit wet sand and water with some dish soap then used Meguires polish and wax. I do suggest using a power polish - a little bit of elbow grease and it turned out really nice. have fun,

meguiars has an excellent clear plastic cleaner/protectant series. comes in a little white bottle with blue lettering. www.meguiars.com
their products hardly go wrong, and theyre safe and relatively cheap.

I've got the same problem, but mine happens to be all year round here in NYC...if it's not construction work in the summer...it's that damn salt spreaders in the winter!! Hopefully we get a lot of ideas from this thread to help us out.

I had read on another thread, that if u were to Wetsand the GS's headlight's that it could really mess them up if u apply uneven pressure, which is easy to do on our curved headlight's, is this true? thanks

You mean this one?

I was hoping you saw this thread; a bunch of good opinions and real-world testing. Using an orbital buffer would help too. I had a guy do a detail job on my car a couple weeks ago, and the things he did with that buffer, with the same products I typically use, and the same amount of time, greatly surpassed my best attempts for an all-day type cleaning.

If you are concerned about doing it yourself, get a pro detailer to do your whole car, and ask him to buff-up the headlights at the same time with those meguiars pruducts; they should look damn near new. You probably need a good detail job anyway, right?
