Exterior Lights and Condensation...
I know this is a Lexus forum but I have a general lighting question....I have an SC400 and have a condensation issue and I KNOW its not normal. So...
Ok I have an 04 GA and the headlights have condensation in them as do the back up lights. One of the headlights has been replaced under warranty since it had "standing water" from a bad seal the other had condensation but not as severe they said its not covered under warranty, condensation is "normal".
Friend just bought a Porsche Cayenne GTS brand new and one of his lights had so much condensation u couldnt even see in it...dealer also said "thats normal".
So my question is...is this #$%^ the dealers are saying true that there should be condensation in the headlights? Or are they just trying to save costs?

Just a very common problem. Seals age, cracks somewhere behind headlights, poor ventilation. Headlights supposed to breathe, it is supposed to breathe out the moisture when its heated. Most common solutions are to buy used headlights or bake open, paint black, then reseal.
Search, there are many DIY threads telling how to deal with the problem.

No, there shouldn't be condensation in headlights. Lexus has put out several TSB's for the issue in the later Rx models because there were so many complaints.
Headlights are designed with vents which allow the moisture to leave. Condensation s bad for bulbs and can cause fogging and all sorts of problems. It is NOT "normal".
