Default 2001 Lexus GS430 Blue-Tooth

Hi folks,

When I activate my I-phone blue tooth feature while in my car, the phone is picking up a blue tooth signal. When I try to connect, an error message pops up on my iphone which asks me to turn on the blue tooth feature in the car. Unfortunately, I can't find anything on the dash or navigation that would turn the blue tooth on.

I was always under the impression that there was no way that my 2001 had blue tooth capability, but if my phone is picking up a signal, it's making me thing that maybe someone installed something aftermarket.

Any ideas here?

Thanks

hey man hows it going?

Do you still have the previous owner contact info? You can probably give him a call/text/e-mail to find out.

Do you see a small microphone any where close by,usually it's behind the steering wheel, that should confirm if the is a bluetooth capability.

Very intriguing!! Try looking for a mic, or where a mic MIGHT have been (usually near top of windshield). The brain box is probably in the center console, under a front seat, or behind the radio, or glove box.

Let us know what you find out. NO 2nd gen GSs came with bluetooth stock. It' got to be aftermarket.

The link is in the text. Click on "Here's". There's another thread here on CL showing the DIY for a bluetooth install.

Since it's not obvious to me, I'm planning on swinging by a car stereo/alarm place and see if they can have a look. There's got to be something transmitting this blue-tooth signal to my phone.

Check grom audio. Maybe a grom is installed to the stock headunit? I had one on a is300
