Default question about maf sensor

so my car keeps stalling out mostly in the morning or whenever car sits for a long time. cel code i got is mass airflow circuit a. after inspecting my maf sensor i noticed that my little wires inside are clean and in good shape but before removing the sensor, i noticed that one of the 10mm screws that holds the sensor in place was missing. my question is are those screws considered to be ground screws? because i see a little metal piece in the hole where the screw would go which would make me believe that the sensor needs to be grounded by the 2 screws and with me missing one of those screws would cause the sensor to malfunction. can anybody give me their opinion on this?

My MAF, (AFM in this case) was missing a screw for a while. Finally stole a screw and plopped it on. Not sure if it's a ground screw, I don't think so. It would be your MAF itself that has failed.

i dont think the MAF has to be grounded only because the intake body where it mounts up to is plastic no?

also my MAF is connected to an aluminum intake pipe for the supercharger and AL is not as conductive as other metals.

possbily check out the condition of the senors too if its sending the correct V reading.

if you have a good scanner then it should show you how the maf is reacting to the air flowing past it. a typical maf reads about 4 g/s at idle and should rise to between 11 and 15 g/s at about 2500 rpm. if your maf is not reacting as such then i would suspect it to be faulty

Thanks guys. I went ahead and just bought a new maf sensor and that seemed to clear up the stalling issue. I still have some other cel codes that i have to work on. one of them is saying insufficent coolant temp which makes me believe that i need a new engine coolant sensor.

could also be because of a bad thermostat.
