Sounds like a bad signal to the starter...the voltage may be too low.

The problem is intermittent right?

Try and check the V at the starter (gear reduction motor) when you start the car.

Make sure the oxygen sensor is connected properly, and isn't wet maybe, or could just be damaged somehow, I know when I disconnected the Oxygen sensor on my car, it would start very breifly then shut off, and not start other times, so that "might" be somthing to look into.

#1. Signal from key
#2. MAS / 02 senson going

Your descriptions match a couple of issues I've had. #1, forgot to get Valet key reprogrammed; it woudl turn but not start really; #2, when I installed the MAS backwards after instaling an intake OOOps ; would start, then die; also when my filter slipped off, and too much air was reaching the engine; could idle, but when pressed the gas, car would die.

Another thing you might want to try is to pull a plug and see if you get spark??? Could be an ignitor failing???

Default well.. considering it was running and just died.. with no work by me..

I think theres something seriously wrong. And I don't have the resources or time to troubleshoot it.
Its on a flatbed on the way to the dealer monday.

Default well it was the fuel pump

46K miles is pretty low unless something else came into play.. like trash.. or heat..

I have been using this place to gass up for about ayear now... guess I just need to do it a little sooner.

And we won't even talk about the fact that someone left the key on and drained my 2week old batt.

edit 1:30 p.m
I just went by the shop. The back seat bottom is lifted up.. so they appear to get at it from the top .. must be an access hole.

PS, this is a toyota dealer bc there is no lex within 100miles

They also said that the engine airfilter was dirty... (that should have been replaced at the 30K service done by the lex dealer or at least caught when the lex dealer did the 40K. )

im not getting any happier as this goes along so far...

Wow. My car did the same thing to me last Wednesday on the way to the airport.
I was thinking it is either the key fob not transmitting or not enough voltage. The dealer still has not figured it out. I will let you know what happens. This is very frustrating.

UPDATE:
Fuel pump, screen, filter, plugs, battery, towing, cust roadside=1500 minus my complaining=1085.85.
Damn. Oh, well. It does seem to run better though. Maybe that was why my dyno graph showed so many peaks and valleys-improper fuel delivery.

Fever,

Why plugs? Are you giving up on those Torque Master plugs? I don't see any reason that fuel pump failure was caused by plugs

I don't know either. My service guy was out today. Basically, he said my plugs were gone yet this seems hard to believe. I loved my plugs. I'll keep you guys posted.
Sucks, I was in California when my car went into the shop so I couldn't come in and collaberate.
