Was driving back home and the check engine light came on, these are the codes I got:

P0345: Camshaft Position Sensor "A" Circuit (Bank 2)
P0365: Camshaft Position Sensor "B" Circuit (Bank 1)
P0390: Camshaft Position Sensor "B" Circuit

the car drove fine, didn't feel any power loss, i heard a very very low hissing sound but i honestly don't even know if it was always there or not... I did put some gas from a different station today (Ultramar) for once but it's a pretty big chain in canada so i doubt the fuel caused this :S

can anybody help?

Good news is that it could be something as simple as low battery voltage or a weak starter. Either way, you probably need to get to a mechanic you can trust.

 

The battery might need to be changed but I doubt it's what caused it because it happened while I was driving, I was on the road for at least 15 minutes, usually battery problems show up when you start the car :S although I hope I'm wrong... cleared the codes for now and will see how it goes...

 

Do we assume that you listed the codes in the order that you read them? If so the 1st code usually is the problem which would trigger the following codes. Being that you cleared them just wait to see if they trigger again and if so in the same order. If it does then the 1st code sensor will be the one that needs to be replaced. As long as the car is driving the same and not in limp mode then it could be a sensor going bad. Keep us posted

A camshaft position sensor usually will run you ~$120ish depending on where you buy it. It sits on the driver's side of the cylinder head, but I don't recall which is A vs. B (front vs rear)

should be a pretty easy DIY job IMO, if it needs to be replaced.

 

Cleared the codes, drove a bit, new error message, it now says p2195 which is the oxygen sensor the dealer changed 3 months ago, went back to them this morning, they test drove and "inspected" and told me they will re-change it under warranty and that nothing is wrong with the car, going back for that tmrw morning since they need to order the sensor...

Im guessing because of the leak, the oxygen sensor senses too much oxygen in the burnt fuel and tells the engine to burn more fuel (my fuel consumption has almost doubled these past couple of days), basically it's not functioning as it should and causes other errors.

I mentioned this scenario to the dealer and they basically told me in a nice way to ***** off and they know what they're doing, their argument is that it was fine for the past 3 months so if there was a leak it should of showed earlier, i guess it makes a bit of sense, will wait and see what happens!

 

They changed the o2 sensor under warranty, i put 100kms on it since and so far so good, I'm going to Boston for the weekend which is around 600km drive from Montreal so i guess that would be a fair enough test although i'm a bit hesitant and thinking of just renting a car...

 

Went to boston and came back, drove the car for 1200kms (was raining hard on the way back) and had no problem whatsoever up until this morning, I tried starting the car, it cranked but wouldn't start, tried again a minute later and it worked right away, i did not get any error codes thrown... Could it be the sensor or just due to the very long trip under the rain?

 

I think it was just the battery, I replaced it yesterday night and it started like a champ today
