Oh Let's see...

89 100
89 100 Avant
90 V8 (My Favorite, Holy Crap that thing handled good, you could easily 4 wheel draft that thing
on ramps and such... fun car)
91 V8
92 100
92 100 Avant
03 A4 Cab

I worked on all them except the A4... That was the car that sent us to Lexus....

It spent month's at a time in the shop and the dealer experience was worse and worse as we struggled with the thing...

I wasn't ready to NOT have to work on the car

We bought the GS brand new off the dealer showroom and At 122k it's still just been maintenance things...

brakes/rotors
timing belt
entire new front end both a-arms and bushings

just can't beat it...

Yup, this plays out time and time again like a broken record...

The German crowd eventually getting sick and tired of the repairs and jumping ship.

Yes Lexus reliability, but the roots of all of our cars stems from Toyota reliability

That's why I've been struggling with getting into another Audi. I covet allroads (not new model). I've had one before. It was a money pit, but think I can find a better cared for one, and one that has a 6spd manual, with twin turbos.

My current toy, a 2011 Mazdaspeed3 isn't doing it for me. So I'm thinking about the Audi. I'm keeping my GS regardless. I just LOVE driving a REAL manual car, and the faster the better.

Yeah, I saw your posts in the suspension subforum. You put your lbjs on yet? I haven't done my MOOGs yet. Still doing the rear carrier axle bushings. I'm loving the FIGS parts!!

The GS is a great car. I''ve put almost 50k on mine in the last two years without any issues other then normal maintenance.

I hear the sentiments about the Audi's, I drove them because they had great driver feel, comfortable ride.... but I think I just got old and sick and tired of fixing them

Finally the Lexus needs some tinkering at 122k and 8 years old LOL, after 8 years i'm ready to tinker again

I can appreciate that. I just wish Lexus made a wagon. I love the Audi "avants", especially with quattro wheel drive. I'm just trying to discern my pain threshold about repairs, and then decide if I want to gamble and try and find one that could stay at or below my threshold. Or maybe I'm becoming a bit senile in my old age.

Who knows, maybe an IS300 Sportcross may be in my future. No all wheel drive, but I can do a 6spd swap, and put a turbo on in. It'd be close.

A lot to think about. 122K miles, and 8 years old? I didn't do my tan to black swap until I had about 170K on the clock, and the car was 12 years old. That's the thing about these cars. IMO, they're worth fixing because once you fix them, they'll keep running trouble free for quite a while!!
