Remote door lock question
I have two keys for my car and with both of them I have to be right next to the car for it to respond to the buttons on the key. I replaced the battery in both keys but no change. Shouldn't the locks respond from farther away? Any idea why they are this way?
How far away do other owners have theirs respond?

Mine works at over a hundred feet away, even through a window.. And when "Car Talk" was still on the radio, this subject was discussed, and a listener called in to say that if he opened his mouth, directed his open mouth toward his vehicle, and then put the key into his open mouth, with the key pointed at the back of his mouth, and pressed the lock or unlock button, the range could be extended. I tried this at what must have been 150 to 200 feet, and it worked! Evidently this method used the skull to "beam" the signal in a more focused way. I'm not making this up, but I'll probably get some responses from folks who will think I'm nuts.

I have actually heard the same thing about aiming it your mouth but never tried it. As for my situation I wonder if the keys have drifted off signal and need to be re paired?
Human body does enhance the signal. I tried on all my cars not just RX300. Bring remote control close to my face or neck and it works further away.
When my 2000 RX was new, one time I parked really far away up a hill due to a crowded event. I can't tell how far but I could barely see the flashing light when I lock/unlock the door. I wasn't positive if the doors were locked. Using human body method I made sure doors were locked.
