Default GS 300 2001 wont start

Okay, well this is my first post here and i'm hoping it will be successful. So on my birthday i had a friend drive my car (DD) and at the last stop he snapped my key off the key fab. After a few hours in the casino we went back out and it would crank just fine just not turn over to start. Checked the gas, the car has power and all windows and buttons of the key fab work fine but it wont turn over.

Had a friend check with an OBD2 sensor and it came back with no error codes. Tried disconnecting the battery to reset the car. still nothing. The spark plug looked a little dry but at this point it hasnt started for more than 4 days (3 of which i was on vacation and it just sat there in the hot sun) Fuses to the spark plug was checked along with just about any other fuse that could be found.

I called the dealership and they said as long as the key fab is in the car it should effect its ability to start (even if its not connected to the key)

Any help would be greatly appreciated, usually when this stuff happens i just get a new car but i love this one sooo much! Thanks in advance!

Did you have the FOB part next to the ignition while trying to start it? I know with our cars, when using the wallet key you have to hold the plastic case next to the ignition to work with the immobilizer. More than likely it's the same with the key FOB part as well.

this is why i dont let people drive my car

like said above you might need the fob part to start the car.

theres keyfobs on ebay just switch the chip over and cut a new key. see if that works. good luck!

dealership is thinking more about the newer lexuses with pushbutton start.

With our cars, you should try holding the fob pretty close to the cylinder. You may actually see the security blinking LED light do something different. i forget what means what though.

Yup the key and remote have to be near each other to start. I've tried it before when I broke mine

Yep, that worked. You need to literally have the fob right next to it, no more than a inch away. Well thx again all! Greatly appreciated.
