Default wow coincidence...

i just got the same light today but it was because I had my car tinted today and the guy removed the rear light below the rear window to put the tint on. it is a simple light that connects via one connection and is easily removed and put back on. I unplugged it and reconnected it and the light went away for a minute but it came back. Not sure what do check for now....any advice?

Check ALL bulbs, period and possibly unplug the battery and let it reset.

Does the light come on when you step on the brake? Or when your simply turn on your lights?

It happens when I press the breaks to change to drive, then stays on.

checked the lights and there were two out.. Then bought a pair at the local napa auto parts store and immediately put them in while outside in the parking lot. Good thing too because after putting those in, one other bulb stopped working so I just bought two more packs and replaced the rest of the bulbs so I don't have to worry about any of them for a while . The dashboard light is not illuminating anymore so all is good.

Check your high mount brake light. There are 3 or 4 bulbs in there I believe, so even if it lights up, there still may be 1 out in there. All of them have to be working...
