Default Gs300 ecu question

Is the ecu from a 99 gs300 interchangeable with a 01 gs300. Think my 01 is bad and can get a hold of a 99 ecu. Thanks!

Why you suspect its bad? What are the symptoms?

Scanner says tps is bad. So I installed new one and it still is giving me p0120 tps code. I have a spare 99 ecu. Wiring looks fine to me also.

Did you check the wire integrity? Check wire color Yellow/Green and Yellow/Red for open or short. One of those wires got a wire integrity problem.

Yes and it looks ok I guess, some cracked plastic but no wires broken.

You need to check for voltage readings not just appearance.

If you have a early 01 yes, late 01 no. If the connectors are the same your good, if not don't buy it.

But you will need to do one of two things to make it start.

1) buy the engine ecu, transponder amplifier ecu, and the key from the car the ecu comes out of. Take the chip from the 'new' key put it into your existing keyblade, and then install both new ecu's in the car, good to go.

2) buy just the engine ecu, and then pay a mobile locksmith that has the toyota master flash kit to come reflash your existing transponder amplifer ecu to work with the 'new' engine ecu.

Ecu's don't just typically go bad, it happens but not very often. You've got to get a mutlimeter, it's the most basic of all troublshooting tools and is indispensable. You don't need a $400 Fluke or anything just a cheap one from hardware store will suffice for most diy needs. The tps adjustment procedure is something to be read up on as well, there are a few threads here on it if you search.

good luck!
