Default Upgrading OEM HID Bulbs

Hi,

Well my 2GS has the OEM HID headlights and i'm thinking about fitting a set of 6k bulbs to replace the 4.3k ones that are fitted as standad.

1 - Am i right in thinking that the OEM HID bulb is D2R fitment.

2 - Will fitting new 6k HID bulbs improve the lighting output as i find the my headlights a little dim atm.

Thanks

Peter

Yes, you can go with D2R 6000k bulbs. I went with D4R 6000k bulbs myself and have no issues. Remember the higher the Kelvin rating the darker the light output

D2R, 4300 is the best light output. rebased bulbs are garbage.

Yea OEM is D2R

NO! 4300 is much brighter than the more colorful temperatures. The highest i would go is 5000K -6000k if your looking for more color.

You may notice a difference just buy replacing old bulbs.
or you can do a retro and have insane output....

Hi,

Repugnante - I thought that D2R was the fitment type so didn't think that a D4R bulb would work. How did fitting the D4R bulb improve your light output.

21SF - Yeah i'm thinking about doing either the LS430 or Q45 projector conversion in the near future depending on budget.

Cheers all

Peter

I agree, I have some rebased 5000k's in my Buick Park Ave Ultra and they are ok, but suck compared to 9011 HIR's in the same car and my stock D2R HID's in my GS4. But they are better than stock 9006's. But the rebased ones are almost always D2S and I don't like using D2S's in D2R or 9006 applications. They glare some and have sloppy light pattern.

The q45 are more for looks the 430/460 will out perform.
