Readjust trunk springs?
I have a factory installed rear spoiler and the trunk springs seem weak for it. I don't know how "good" they were factory.
I am used to on my GM cars when I pop the trunk it either opens on its own or is very light so when I open it there is very little weight.
This one seems sorta heavy. If you are up around 12" and let go, it will close and latch.
Is that normal?

Here's a thread on adjusting the tension bars:

There are also 2 sets of OEM bars. One with less tension typically for trunks without spoilers and one with more tension. Between these two sets of bars and the adjustments, you should get it closer to where you'd like it.
I don't have part numbers so you might have to do a little more digging to confirm what you have.

Has it always been weak? There are a few versions of the OEM spoilers made for our cars (factory vs dealer installed). Some are slightly heavier than others and adjusting the spring tension may not be enough. I've tried this in a friend's GS and his trunk lid still couldn't support itself. On the other hand, my trunk operates like it should even on the lowest tension setting.

Mine has been weak since I have had it, but I have only had it for a month. Mine appears to be a factory rear spoiler car. No evidence of a 3rd brake light inside the car, only on the rear spoiler.
I'll try to adjust it if I can.

Your car is 10years old. These things wear out just like shocks and springs. Don't jump to the conclusion that it was a factory defect instead of wear and tear.

Who was?
Mine has some scrawny looking bars, probably 3/8in in diameter at best. I moved to the closest hole, no significant help. And make sure you look underneath, mine were both out of the holder in the middle, not a biggie, more like a anti-rattle clip.

The best you can do is to make sure you have part numbers 64531-30260 and 64532-30260 and that the setting is on the 3rd, farthest hole. If you have bars that end in 50 (instead of 60), it is the lighter bars.
If you are already configured as above, I guess you'll just have to live with it. I have it like that and when I pop the trunk, it opens a few inches. On the way down, it does not close by itself. If I have it on the lowest tension setting, the trunk will barely open when popped and will come down closed if left alone at the highest height.
