Angry Heavy Spoiler

I have a 2002 ES300 with a dealer installed spoiler. My problem is that the trunk lid is heaver and doesn't always pop up when opened. I asked the dealer to adjust the spring rate in the trunk and they said this is normal with the spoiler. I asked about stronger springs in the trunk and they said they never heard of that.
Has anyone else had this problem and if so what did you do to fix?

what do you mean by "pop up when opened?" you mean when you open the trunk w/ the remote, it doesn't always work?? if the remote only opens the trunk a lil bit, u can just lift it the rest of the way by hand right? I've never heard of higher compression trunk springs for toyota but i guess you can find them.

I would go and get an opinion from a second dealer in the area. If they say the same thing, I guess you could try and look aftermarket for some heavy duty springs. It's really surprising the spoiler would be that heavy.

Just got back from another dealer and they made an adjustment to the springs and now the trunk does pop up when using the remote. They also haven't heard of any stronger springs.
I have a Acura and the factory spoiler came with stronger springs in the box.
Thanks for the help.

Default There is some adjustment leeway

I know for sure in the GS's this adjustment has been discussed several times, I will try to find my original post with instructions on how to adjust the spring tension. It should hold true for you ES guys/gals as well. I'll edit and repost it here when I find it.

Trunk Spring Tension Adjustment instructions:

just noticed the link is dead...I'll shoot STATIC911 a PM to see if he can refresh it.
