Well, I've had my 2000 GS4 for 20 months and finally made a road-trip. I'm all stock, new Michelin Pilots, New Lexus OEM shocks, new LBJs. Yep, the steering is this car's Achilles Heel. I think it's basically a terrible design on the lower arms. It may also be compounded by the variable effort steering system. At highway speed, it feels a lot like the old manual steering Ford trucks I used to drive for work. Having said that, I had no issues really. You do have to pay attention, and fortunately it gets more stable with speed. I found 85MPH to be the sweet spot.
The engine is fantastic for passing, for going up hills in the mountains - I never once felt I was pushing it.
Interior comfort is awesome, after an 8 hour day, no pain.
First mod. I bought stainless brake lines at RCTS in Calgary from Jimmy, who is known here as Bippu147. I highly recommend dealing with him. He's a straight shooter and knows the GS inside out. He took some time to show me his car - it is amazing. Here's couple pics from my trip.
