Default Firm up steering?

Is there a way to firm up the power steering a tad? Mine is almost too easy, even at speed. I'd love some more resistance.

Thanks!

Unplug the 2 wire connector on the steering rack just below where it meets the steering column.

What happens when you do the disconnect? Reduces (or eliminates) PS assist?

Reduces but does not eliminate the power assist.

I use my 1998 Maxima as a benchmark....this car made the C&D 10 Best list when it came out in 1995 MY. But its achilles heel was always the steering--light and loose feeling. And, its beam axle.

Now, I would say the LS430 is not like the Maxima, it is better. It has no loose feel to it, it's not really overly light or overly assisted imho. But the wheel is ginormous, like one is sailing out of Gloucester Harbor on a tuna fishing voyage or checking lobstah traps. At the same time, the turning circle is nice and pretty small.

I have cut a power steering belt before on a Volvo, because of the rack the car was able to turn its wheel all the way to the left by itself. Having done that, it was very difficult to navigate at low speeds....imho reducing assist may not be the answer. Not sure what a smaller steering wheel would do--remember Volvo 240's? Their wheels were not that small. But they could get a special package which put extra gauges on the instrument cluster, and also a tiny leather wrapped wheel.....maybe there is a smaller wheel that can be installed on our LS'....my .02....
