My 2 cents are that too many people are living in their own world or trusting the internet way too much.

My advice, is there is a difference between learning knowledge and learning procedures. Too many people seem more interested in just the procedures and not actually learning knowledge. So take a class if you can, or buy/borrow a general car maintenance book to learn knowledge of why the procedures are done a particular way.

But back on the topic of this procedure, if you haven't done these things before, find someone in meatspace to show you hands-on how to do something, rather then living in your own world.

Be sure to put some clean oil around the seal of the new oil filter before torquing it on.

Yes indeed. Some oil from the old filter always tend to spill on areas below. Not a big deal though.

Torquing it on? The new filter should be hand tightened.

you think that bad..on older Nissan maxima you can see the old fliter touch it..but its place on top so screwing it off you would loose all the oil from the filter onto the engine bay and the exhaust header.. car would stink burnt oil for a couple of mile til it burn off

Everyone has to start somewhere. I know that everyone gets angry about repeated threads/simple questions, but what can you do

OP, theres a search button on the right that you can use to find all your questions.

And welcome to CL.

I have found that a form-a-funnel has been very useful. I recommend it. And it's cheap.

Please direct me to where I can purchase this? Link? Store? I can't keep using up my rags to catch oil. Does this type of funnel have a long drain tube to where I can direct the used oil to my oil pan?
