Door Actuator Problem, after repairs
Hello CL. Quick intro, im a newbie to this website but not towards owning a Lexus. I have previously owned a 92 5spd sc300 but due to an unfortunate accident, i had to part ways with her
... But thats not the last of my sc days. So anyways, i'am once again a proud Lexus owner but this time to a 98 gs300
Now the problem. When i purchased the car, all but the drivers door lock actuator were shot and i read up on the DIY for this and had successfully done the actuator motor swap with the Mabuchi FC280PC. About a month later, the front passenger door lock, all of a sudden, was not functioning. It wouldn't lock or unlock by switch or manually. The lock is stuck on lock position and the only way i can open the door is to insert the key, turn key to unlock position, and pull on the door handle simultaneously. So i pulled the door panel off, and 1 out of 2 of the problems i have is one of the hex bolts that holds the actuator assembly spins freely and will not come out. I've tried pushing the bolt from the inside while trying to take it out at the same time and still nothing. Besides that, i was still able to take out the actuator and take it apart. So i looked and took apart the internals of the actuator casing and reinstalled them. Before i did that, i noticed that the ring gear would spin freely one way, then eventuallly tension would build from the spring underneath the ring gear, but to spin it the other way, it took too much effort to do so and thats what led me to take it apart and reinstall it. After doing that, i tested it and it was functioning. But now, 2 weeks later, its doing the same thing. Thats my 2nd problem and i was wondering if anyone has had that problem also or if anyone knows the solution to this problem. Thanks in adv.
