I have a 99 gs300 and when i use my key to lock the car from the drivers door, it only locks the drivers door.
I have been locking the car via the passenger door for a while now which locks the whole car.
Ive checked the fuses and just wondering if anyone has had a similar problem and knows what to try next.
With mine the only door that doesn't lock is driver side and I know that has to be that door lock actuator. It's probably the door lock actuator that is bad and need to be replaced.
Im going to replace the actuator anyway, just annoying because the remote doesn't work so have to walk around the other side to lock it haha
but i can lock the drivers door with the key in the drivers door, it just doesn't lock the whole car
The door lock actuators actually have a locked position sensor built-in so make sure you have that little white arm on the actuator is seated properly. Even if you door lock actuator functions properly, that door lock position sensor internally could be causing you problems as well as give you problems when you are using your remote key fob. Also the door ecu could be a culprit too.
when i put the actuator on i had the ball in the right spot but the little arm next to it was out of position by a little so it wasn't working properly.
thanks for the reply, with the new actuator the central locking works now.
its still not perfect after new actuator, but the central locking works with the remote.
Drivers door key hole only locks drivers door and not rest of car, but since i can lock the car fully im not bothered.
In my 2001 is200 sometimes the locks play up a bit when the weather is hot, maybe your actuators are playing up with hot or cold weather if they sometimes work.
The actuator is connected to the key lock. When the key is turned to the lock position the actuator "should" send a signal to the vehicle to lock the doors.
You can test this function on your actuator directly to see if it is working properly.
Connect a multimeter to Pins 3 and 5 on the actuator. Now rotate the white arm that goes over the "round ball" toward the connector. You should get continuity when the arm is toward the connector and no continuity when it is rotated away from the connector.
My money is that you got a Ebay Chinese knock-off actuator and it is not sending the signal to your vehicle.
