Whatever bulb is dead is the one you replace, not the fast blinking one. The front one is blinking fast because the circuit is interrupted due to the dead bulb.
I think there's a total of 5 nuts, three inside and two outside.. all are size 10mm.. since you are replacing one of the bulb, suggest to replace the rest, brake / stop light bulbs.

Assuming brake and stop light mean the same, I only bought a pair of 7440's.
What great advice guys - I didn't erroeneously change thge fast blinking front bulb, and quickly changed both 7440 rear bulbs by removing ony 2 exterior screws and 2 interior 10 mm bolts.
Actually, I changed the turn signal and whatever else was a 7440 (reverse?) - hope I didn't change out a good 7443 like the brake light (are the fittings the same?)
