Forgot to add - this is the first time I have ever had this car into a mechanic in the eight years I have owned this car, with the exception of a brake job and state inspection.
As a precaution, since they are removing the intake manifold, I drew a sample of the engine oil for analysis. After the car is repaired, I will change the oil, then draw another sample for analysis again. That way, I can examine the silicon level to determine if the intake manifolds were properly re-installed so that they have no air leaks. (Intake air leaks generally manifest themselves as increased silicon levels and associated wear metals). Also took lots of pictures of the top of the engine with the plastic cover removed, just so I can compare to make sure everything was replaced properly. Sounds crazy, but I suffer from being ****, Obsessive-Compulsive, and worry about entrusting my car to a dealer I have never dealt with before....
Just got the car back from the dealer...Much better! They replaced the starter with a remanufactured unit. The engine spins much faster now during cranking! Apparently, my old starter had been slowly dying for some time. I am all set, and up and running now, until the next issue crops up...My next plan is to get the timing belt changed. I only have about 80K miles on the vehicle, but it's eight years old, so I figure I should go ahead with changing the timing belt.
