Default Replace Factory Radio with What?

I will be replacing the factory radio on my 2000 GS400 with a new unit but I am not sure what I should replace it with. I was thinking;

a) Factory Lexus Navigation Unit
b) Aftermarket Navigation Unit
c) Aftermarket DVD player

Which do you guys recommend? The current interior looks exactly like this http://2.photos.ebizautos.com/used-1...775-30-640.jpg.

Thank you all so much!

Eclipse or Pioneer, you can't go wrong with both.

A is not cost effective, nor as feature laden as B and C. Plus you can find units that incorporate both B and C. Pioneer and Kenwood both are good. I like Eclipse too, but I think they've just left the automotive world. Good luck finding a nav update several years from now.

I have factory nav, and wish I didn't. I can't swap because I don't want to spend the extra money to separate the climate control from the nav unit.

Go aftermarket.

Infamous 1 - As for my budget I really do not want to go over $700.

WOAH, you can get anything then! An aftermarket double din /navigation for that much is top notch. I got the Pioneer 3200 cause I like the big buttons despite the relatively smaller screen size. I found one off craigslist BNIB for 272, so I was happy with that.

i got a avn50d and it works good. granted mine was since july 2006, it is pretty dam old. lol. works good. just has trouble playing mp3 data. screen display not as clear as the newer model. the GUI looks so OEM.. even the "I Agree"

next HU... i'd go for pioneer. i think you should do the same too!

If you're on a budget I would suggest a Pioneer AVIC-D3. You can get one now for ~$500 with Ipod and bluetooth integration. You can control Ipod music and video on the unit. The D3 has a customizable illumination color so it can match any interior lighting you want. You can have a custom background too. The D3 has a Sirius/XM controller if you want to add satellite radio. It has bluetooth so it can act like a car phone. The only downside to the D3 is that it only got one drive, so if you want to play DVD you would have to take out the nav disc. An easy fix to that is install a Pioneer DVD changer or like me connect an Ipod video. If you want newer units I would suggest the Eclipse AVN726EE or the Pioneer AVIC-Z130BT. Goodluck.

As stated previously, for $700, you can get anything you want.
