Default Transmission problems?

I started my car this morning to go to work and as I was driving down the street, I noticed it was sluggish. As soon as I get on the main road and try to speed up the engine seems to rev but the cars speed picks up extremely slow. It was working perfectly fine the night before. I have no idea what could be wrong I am only assuming it is the transmission. Any idea what the problem is or a fix? TIA Forgot to mention I drive a 2001 GS300 with 130xxx miles

This happened to me a few times, (no check engine light, but did set a code for transmission shift solenoid #3 I think) anyway my fluids were fine, and after resetting the code it seemed to work great, and its been about 10 months since it last did it.

But yes check your fluid levels first, and make sure you do it right b/c trans fluid levels can give really strange results if not done right.

I've checked the transmission fluid hot and cold and both times it was good. No check engine light and not in m mode.

How do I check for the transmission code?

Im not mechanically inclined as the other guys on here, but you can give this a shot. If you have M mode, shift through all gears to see if all are engaging or if they're slow engaging. If that checks ok, put it in low gear (2) and see if it still feels sluggish when you speed up. It could possibly be the trans is starting in a higher gear on takeoff.

You need to get it scanned, autozone will do it for free i think.
Also the trans code will be P07xx
I believe the 700 level codes are transmission related, someone please correct me if im wrong.

i was there yesterday because i had check lights all over the place, LOL.. and they didnt pick up anything since emission was ok..

I went to a local shop, hooked it up to a Snap-on ($15k machine) and pulled 8 codes)

on a good note i didnt have to pay a dealership to do it nor pay $80 fee it costs this shop to scan it since the owner is friend of mine. Just had to buy lunch and beer

That happened to me only when the engine was cold somewhere near the same mileage. My trans fluid was bad. It was drained, refilled and put in drive while on the hoist 3 times back to back and it's been ok since. That was about 50k miles ago.
