im picking up a 95 or 97 sc400 (not sure wich year it is i dont remember what he said) i have a 2000 gs300 and wanted to know if putting the 1uz from the sc in to the gs is gonna work. i searched but couldnt find anything i probly just didnt search the right string of words. any links or info would be awsome likw what id need to wire and what mounts id need. thank you
It's not worth the time or money for the extra 50-75 hp. Just go GTE and get it over with
Not even 50-75 more HP. The early years SC only had 250HP and 260 HP for the 95-97 models. My 93 SC400 felt heavy and not really slow, but definitely not that fast. I wouldn't do any V8 swap unless its from the GS400/430, or from the 98+ SC400, but still not worth it IMHO.
Why? Because I can. Its a free swap and I have plans for the 2jz that will be coming out of the gs. Does anyone have any info on the swap or not? I don't recall asking for opinions just info
And its not about time money or horsepower gains. If I can put the 1uz in the gs then I'm gonna put the 2jz into my s14 and have a fun little na 3.0 5spd 240
Well sorry then. Although you didn't ask for opinions, my OPINION is I wouldn't put that engine in your GS300 as it is still a downgrade. But whatever, if you got the money to waste have at it. Most people wont have experience on it because most people would never have though of putting an early 1UZ engine in the 98+ GS300. The 1UZ motor itself is only worth like what? $2500. Free or not it just doesn't seem worth it. I rather put the 3UZ motor if it were me.
So your saying no one has ever bought a 300 then later down the road swaped to the v8? Some one has had to have done it. If not then I guess ill have to be the first to do.

Not sure, but I haven't seen anyone do it on CL that I recall. The swap itself shouldn't bee too hard because the chassis is set up for a V8 obviously. The thing is the 1UZ-FE motor only has about 25 more HP than your I6, so its probably isn't something people would go through the hassle for. Easier to just add all the bolt ons for the I6, or just sell the car and get a GS400/430 with the 300HP motor.
Honestly if it wasn't gonna mean id have 2 "free" swaps I would go na-t. If I can put the 1uz in the GS then I'm gonna and I'm gonna but the 2jz into my s14 to have a fun little na 3.0 drift/drag car and then gonna do a twin turbo lt1 in the sc. Just want to have some fun lol.
Sell the 1UZ-FE motor, sell your GS300, buy a GS400 and use the extra money you receive for the 1UZ-FE you sold to buy bolt ons for your already faster GS.
