Default Which to choose?

Hi,

I will soon be in the market to get a new car. I am leaving the Honda scene and now coming to the Lexus/Toyota scene.

What I have in mind are either the 02-05 IS300 5spd, 01-05 GS300, or 01-05 GS430.

Also I wanted to know if the GS300 and GS430 use the same suspension setup (springs, shocks, sway bars, coilovers, etc.)?

I'm gonna guess that 99.9% of the people in the "GS" forum are gonna say go for the GS and 95% are gonna say the GS430..

Lol. I kind of figured that out. The only that sucks is that the GS430 doesn't have the e-shift.

Well, if you meant original suspension Ant, then only the gs300 sport edition comes with the same suspension as the 430. If you were referring to the fitment issue, I do believe that they all have the same fitment. That why you always see the stereotypic "98-05 gs300/400/430" when you are buying a part for the beloved GS...

And also, as this DOOBIE said... go with the 430... You wont regret it... Do a little search in the forums before you make up your mind though...

OH and start saving now for the mods... you will get addicted... They are not honda cheap either...

I'll probably end up getting a GS instead of the IS. I'm looking for a comfortable daily driver that has sporty characteristics.
I am a big guy,6'5" 265lbs. and this car is waaay comfortable. Driven in it for 4 hours to Vegas and it was one of the best cars i have taken there.. (usually rent a car).. It can be sporty if you push the accelerator in the right places and the shift points match but i have a 300..I noticed you can't just slam down the pedal and expect a normal reaction. Gotta be a little gentiler and roll it on then mash it but it definitely puts you back in your seat. Just in 1st gear that is but it could be driving styles so i will probably get flamed for saying this. It is BTW a 4 door ..

Interior is so quite i have to roll down the windows sometimes to hear the cars around me..

Go 2GS 300-430 and i guarantee you won't be sorry but just look for a well taken care of one.

Hope to see your next thread stating "Look what I got!"

Looks like GS430 it is. Hope fully I can find some with decent mileage in about a month. I have also noticed in my area SoCal 310 and around my area, there are hardly any GS430 for sale that are 03-05.

hey ant welcome to the club.

i own a 2k gs4, driven it for 40k miles. 0 issues. very consistent reliable vehicle. classy, flashy, and very quick. to tell you the truth, i dont get many stares from younger kids (iam 18) but middle aged adults (24-30) who looked at the gs before they bought their 3 series anyway -- thats neither here nor there. do yourself a favor and get a v8 model. honestly, i would get a 98-00 because of e shift, if you were in the honda scene then you probably raced, without e shift, it would be very tough to time a rolling start and you would probably lose what should be a close race. more opinions - look for a clean totally stock example pref 1 owner no body work. also, go for the wingless trunk, it is alot cleaner and future mods will flow better. as far as comfortability and driveability ill tell you this, no matter where i go or who iam with, everyone wnats me to drive and they will continually comment on every aspect "omg man these seats are so nice..." "wow i love how i sit in here" it seriously is my favorite car that i have experience with (egciviccoupe,es300,plymouthbreeze,fordexcursion,integragsr,tiburongt,mk4jetta) i know those cars cant be compared but ive rambled enough. last thing - black interior. trust me.

Thanks man for suggestions. I'll take these into consideration when looking for a car.
