Please help!!
Hey guys... So i disconnected the battery to do some work on my car. Took the engine cover off and discovered a broken vacuum hose. Decided to try and take my intake manifold off, so i disconnected everything and realized i wouldnt be able to do this today so i reconnected everything back on. Connected the battery back on and decided to turn the car on. I heard a pop? and no power. Engine compartment smelt weird smokey? Disconnected the battery then reconnected it. Turned over but now my instrument cluster doesnt work! The speedometer and gauges dont work and they are dark!! Please help me! Im pretty freaked out, do you guys know what it could be?
Once I thought I'd "help" my father-in-law replace the battery in his truck -- in the dark. New battery's terminals were the reverse of the old battery's. Several fuses and a new ECU later, he was back up and running.

That is quite a scare, even for a young buck like myself!
