Default Car problems...No CEL light!

Since i bought my car it has been driving awesome, Until just lately. Last week i decided to do a nice pull. I drop it into 2nd and punch the gas everythings good then at about 6000rpm right before redline there was a large clunk noise in the engine compartment and my gas pedal went completly soft and the car stop accelerating(it kinda scared me). This event happened again entering onto the freeway at 90mph right before a shift. I dont know how it could be the rev limiting since i was in automatic. Since this my car feel like crap. It feels very sluggish and no responsive. No CEL came up or anything, Oil looks good, gas is fine... Im at 89900 miles so its going to need a major service pretty soon but was hoping to get away with waiting till this summer when i do my ball joints and coilovers.

Not sure what the problem could be, but i would recommend resetting the ecu.

The rpms dropped really low, I dont remember what. My gas pedal got really soft so naturally with the original pressure my foot depressed the pedal evenmore but i stopped accelerating. But as soon as i realized what happened i let my foot off the gas and it went back to normal.... Its hard to explain

that is hard to explain. press your gas pedal a few times with the key out of the ignition. get the feel of it. now turn your key to the on postion and press it a few times. should feel exactly the same. point im trying to make is the gas pedal feels the same wether your engine is on or off. theres nothing that ever changes the resisting pressure of the gas pedal, except for floor mats of course. its just that gas pedal and a wire cable going straight to the throttle body

im pretty sure the sudden drop in engine noise, speed, and power made it seem like it got soft. but it didnt. so moving along, did the lights on your dash all go dim when it lost power?
