that same thing happened to me a couple of months ago and i took it to lexus thinking that they were going to charge me up the you know what, and actually here is what they told me, they said that if you pay for 2 keys, which they are about 275 each, they will absorb the cost of the ecu, which costs about 1500.00, and you have to pay for the laybor which was 110. so all in all it will probobly cost you about $660.00. i hope i was able to help you out enough.
I just bought two master keys for $192 apiece from the dealership. FYI- The guy behind the counter told me their cost was $191 and the markup was $1. I found that hard to believe.

I lost my master key today and all I got is my valet key. Does anyone know how much Lexus will rape me for a new master key?
sorry to hear that...
if you talkin about big key with chip and everythin that would cost your $300+ if you talkin about just regular master key (no chip) that's $60+
You probably will have to get the new ECM because the immobilizer is in the ECM. To program new key you will need master key to program your new key and you only have valet key, so if you just buy a master key without ECM it will not work. I know it BS, but you may need to go to your Lexus dealer and talk to them to help out the cost of the ECM. Some dealer will do a Goodwill to help you out.
Good luck.

They goodwilled me the ECM (Lexus Customer Service does it for everybody only once they said) --> I then had to buy 2 master keys. Because if I lost one of them, I could use the 2nd to reporgram a new one. Better than spending $1500 the second time around.
I remember this being discussed in a thread late last year. From what I remember is that Lexus will give you a new ECU. However, you will need to pay for the key and programming (which varies in price...but should be no more than $200.00 for the master and even less for the valet).
The reason being is that it is not the fault of the owner that they can't just get a new key cut. Also, IMO, the way they look at it is that most people are not going to intentionally lose their master keys.
I had one master made and the dealer split the cost with me. The cost of the new key was about $160.00 i think. I paid about $80.00 for it. I wasn't happy when they only promised one (1) master and one (1) valet for CPO vehicles (per Lexus corp. policy...which I think is a BS policy). I think lease owners should return everything...or be charged for it. That is why they split the cost.

DevildogIS300 got them for me. I am not sure if he still can get them at the same price, but PM him, he probably will give you a good deal.
DevikdogIS300 was also the one that said that Lexus saw this whole thing as a problem and that the dealer will order a new immobilizer unit, however, you wil have to pay for the keys and install.
