Default Help with purchasing screen

I am buying a screen for the 98 400 but unsure if I should go double din or single din flip out. I like the single din flip out style because well it flips out and it sits up a little big higher. I know it sits in front of the vents when open but I have had that in the past and it didnt bug me much I liked how it was up kinda high. Anyone give me some advice on that? I also am looking for a company that makes dash kits that match the a/c controls. Thanks !

I would go with a double din only because it looks so much cleaner and you won't run into problems with the motor going bad in the future. I personally like the double din more because it looks like it belongs there. The single flip up looks too aftermarket. If you are still shopping around, check out Crutchfield and 'outfit my car.' If you are looking for a kit that matches the dash: http://www.l-tunedparts.com/product/?id=1726

nice. thanks alot for the link. Yah I agree it looks nice, the double din still does have a motor though, it slides down to expose the cd/dvd slot. I don't know why I like the single din so much must be old times when I had one!

They have 1 left in stock when I went got mines Saturday. The faceplate from L-Tuned is a must if you're going for the stock look.

Couldn't have said it better myself. It comes down to personal preference in the end but I agree with 06spdracer.

+100000 on the double-din. I was going to go single-din, but saw how a double-din looked in our cars and changed my mind completely. You'll regret going single.

Double din all day. They do make them where the cd insert slot is exposed. I have one and got it because i was worried about the motor dying.

I used to really like the single din motorized ones too. Nostalgic I guess. hahaha. I kept my old AVIC and put it in my 4Runner. Then the motor started to get really weak and slow, so I swapped it out to the Kenwood DNX7140. What a world of difference. Much cleaner look and not to mention a lot faster too!

Go double din, just installed one in my gs300 and looks stock. check out the Pioneer Avic x910bt, it does not have the slide down motorized face so no worry about it going out. It has a great nav, rear cam ready, DVD, iPOD w/voice interface, Bluetooth, MP3, speed sensor, and SD card slot. Picked one up from dynamicautosound for $530. you will have to extend the aftermarket wire harness to reach the connection of the stock amp in dash but it only takes about an hour and a half to install and do it right with a metra face plate.
