Default GS shifter trim ring

Hey guys, what's up. I had to come and report to you all on my success in obtaining this sought after piece for those of us that have the 98-00 GS. I was able to LOCATE ONE "IN STOCK" mind you, at Lexus of Cerritos. I had my car serviced there, which they in turn gave me an 01 IS to drive as a loaner. Anyway, the trim ring I got which BTW was only $21.50 is nicer than I though, and diferent than the 01 piece. It is a smoked/black chrome look. It looks sweeet. Not like the bright chrome of the emblems and stuff. It blends VERY nice because it does not totally jump out from all the black in the shifter area. Anyway, I was lucky that they had one even though it is discontinued. Aparently... it was a special order as they always are, and was never picked up. Anyway... what I would recommend, is that you contact your local Lexus dealer and ask them to do a search in their database. Yes, they can do that. That is how I found mine. Anyway.... I already checked for you guys all over the LA area, and I am sorry to say there are none left. BUT check it out if you don't live in the LA/Orange areas... and GOOD LUCK.

A smoked chrome shifter ring? Did you steal it off of your loaner?

J/K - lets see it, especially a pic of the part bag.

Wouldn't it be funny if we found that under the black plastic of the stock 98 - 00 shifter trim rings, there was actually a chrome trim ring and that it was just painted from the factory?

Default shifter trim ring

Nah, I had an IS300 as a loaner. I will have some pics as soon as I get home probably later tonight or tomorrow... But the plastic "L" trim of the IS's steering wheel does fit on the 98-00 GS steering wheel. It matches the 01 GS's instrument panel in the color combination though..... Grayish black with the silver trim. It is a stick on rubber emblem.

Thumbs up Shifter pics

Here you go guys, pics as promised. BTW, I was able to locate another one at Lexus Beverly Hills, cause the first one I got at Cerritos was "slightly" angled probably due to the storage location. In any event, here is a pic. Let me know what you think. I think it makes a big diference.

Default Trim part #

Here is the part # as requested. If you use this, you might have better luck instead of asking for it by descrition.

As I suspected after seeing your pics - yours is the same as mine; look at the part numbers.

I couldn't imagine Lexus making 2 different bezels, and when I saw your pics, and at certain angles, mine sometimes looks a smoked color too.

Looks good though!

Default Trim

Yes, however..... it is discontinued. I was lucky to find it. But try, otherwise you will probably be told that you have to buy the whole shifter console(black part), which is about $350.00. Good luck though. If they say they don't have it, ask them to do a search and see who might have it. I hope this helps.
