Default Keyless Entry/Door locking problems - possibly solved with aftermarket alarm? *HELP*

Okay; so amongst all of the problems I've been solving little by little on my GS4; there is one that is puzzling me to this day.

I haven't troubleshooted it to the max, but here is my problem:

- My key fob doesn't unlock the doors or lock the doors or unlock the trunk on my GS400. It's a 2000. The battery has been switched out in the remote; the red led's both light up in the remote and the car.

- I tried to program it 7 different ways including standing on my head while chewing gum and spinning and rubbing my stomach and I always get it to unlock and lock the doors but once I open my door and get out the car the 'programming' quits and doesn't 'save' in memory.

- The door mechanisms lock and unlock within the car. Just that the remote doesn't function at all. The car does start.

Now let's say if I get an aftermarket alarm i.e. Viper 7700?? and its wired and all that jazz; will I be able to completely 'disable' the factory keyfob and use the aftermarket alarms key fob to lock and open the doors?

Any help would be appreciated on this subject. I don't want to go and take it to an alarm/audio shop and have them tell me that I need to replace part by part of my system and end up spending a small fortune.

Thanks in advance!

I have the same problem, except I'm not going to install an aftermarket keyless entry.

So do you have to manually open and lock your doors all the time?

Assuming you used the correct wireless doorlock programming instructions, it could be the wireless receiver is toasted; where is not receiving signals. It's located in the right c-pillar. If you put in an aftermarket alarm and wired it correctly you will have the wireless lock/unlock working again through the aftermarket alarm.
