Now that cold weather is here again, I hear a knocking sound until the engine warms up. I asked the dealer and the Lexus hotline and they told me it was a normal thing for this engine. Does anyone else get this?
We had snow here yesterday. Tomorrow it's going to drop to around 25F or so, and this is in Dallas, TX. We have wild temperature swings. One day it's 30F and the next day it's 60F lol.
EDIT: Forgot to post what I was going to say in the first place heh. The engine will have some very minor valve/lifter tick when the engine is cold. Especially on a higher mileage engine where the valve clearance needs to be readjusted. Does not hurt anything if you don't fix the ticking, just a bit annoying. Make sure you have good oil in the engine(changed sometime within the last 3-5k miles?) and most of all make sure you have enough oil in the engine. I know some people that killed their engines because they were simply low on oil.
